Durham, N.C. — The Shelby High School Golden Lions captured the NCHSAA 3A Football State Championship with an 84–41 victory over the Kinston Vikings at Durham County Memorial Stadium. The 125 combined points set a new NCHSAA state title game record for most points scored, and Shelby earned its 13th state championship in program history.
Key Performers & Honors
Lan Farmer was named Most Valuable Player of the championship game. The senior quarterback completed 20 of 27 passes for 459 yards and eight passing touchdowns, while adding two rushing touchdowns, accounting for 10 total touchdowns and leading Shelby’s offense throughout the contest.
