2025 NCHSAA Football State Championships: Middle Creek vs. Watauga (6-A)


Chapel Hill, N.C. — The Watauga High School Pioneers capped off an undefeated season by claiming the NCHSAA 6A State Championship, defeating the Middle Creek Mustangs 47–25 at Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill. This marked Watauga’s first state title since 1978, ending a 47-year drought.

Key Performers & Honors

Evan Burroughs was named Most Valuable Player. Burroughs finished with five total touchdowns, recording 46 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, 14 receptions for 149 yards and a receiving touchdown, and two interceptions on defense, including a 54-yard interception return for a touchdown.
